And some property tours:
Tejas!
Saturday’s activity was an excursion to the Deep Ellum section of Dallas. Deep Ellum is the former industrial area turned artsie hip brooklyn kinda place. We hit up Pecan Lodge and scored seats at the bar. Beef ribs, pulled pork, brisket and sides. The dinosaur sized beef rib was incredible.
After polishing off the beef rib Katie needed a comprible sized lollie pop.
Cider Project
I made my first batch of Cider. It kinda follows the bread project. I had bread yeast, ordered an air lock, bought some unfiltered apple juice and let it all do its thing. The first batch I only added a few tablespoons of sugar. It came out pretty nice and light after about two and a half weeks. we had it up in Vermont after a few days in a sealed container.

For the second round I have two batches going, got real brewers yeast, and added half a cup of sugar. The yeast is a lot more active, we will see what it does to the cider.
Two Years Later…
Two years ago today we got engaged snowshoeing in Utah. Today we got each other snowshoes and attacked the mountain. It was a blast despite it being sooo cold. Other highlights of the weekend were stopping in at a new brewhouse in Plymouth for lunch and sampling the hard apple cider we started fermenting 3 weeks ago.
‘Wilderness Withdrawal’
We made it through our first week back in the city but have serious symptoms of ‘Wilderness Withdrawal’. I came across the below video to ease the pain.
